Saab Deserved Better Than Gm Bankruptcy — I absolutely love the 9-3 and 9-5 SAABs in the time between their debut and before they lost their independence to GM. The 2001 offers incredible comfort, clean lines, and amazing engineering. My regular mechanic always offered fair prices, but there were a few nagging electrical problems.Ratings: 22

I own a Saab 9-5 wagon, 2001. When it was only 3000 miles out of warranty, twice the unit (alarm system) failed, presumably because it had gotten wet. Saab says that when the ac drains are blocked, it can back up into the passenger compartment of the vehicle, thus causing damage to the twice unit.

Aug 03, 2006 · In my research, I have found this motor is a GM l81 motor, 3.0l v6. This motor has also been used in the saturn vue and cadillac catera. According to the NHTSA records, there was a recall on timing belts for the 97-2002 cateras. As stated earlier, this is the same motor in my 2001 saab 9-5 se v6 3.0l.
