Jan 20, 2013 · In my opinion, the ACGME should stop pretending that it cares about protecting the rights of residents and get rid of their resident concern or complaint process because it does much more harm than good by jeopardizing the careers of naive residents who don't fully consider the risk of their program director retaliating against them for filing the concern or complaint.

The PEC exists to audit the program and assure its compliances. It should receive resident concerns and complaints in a confidential manner. What if the PEC primarily consists of the same members as the CCC and program leadership who may themselves be perpetrators of ACGME violations (or entirely ignorant of ACGME requirements)?
