Aug 17, 2014 · Um. I'd take that with a grain of salt. I like Ballistol for some things, but the idea of hoping that it will "season" my gun's sliding parts like lard on a cast iron skillet and result in the best solution to my semiauto lubrication problems is a bit much - why not just use grease?

Jul 10, 2012 · I've been using Ballistol since November, or so. Hoppes gives me a headache when I use it indoors. What I like about Ballistol is that it doesn't have carcinogens and is biodegradable. Ballistol does a good job cleaning, I have no complaints.

Mar 10, 2013 · I use Ballistol for cleaning my firearms, Shooter's Choice grease for lubrication. I have the full-size, black, serrated, KA-BAR and I wipe it down with Ballistol to prevent rust. But since the sharp edge is the only exposed steel, I'm not sure that it's really necessary.

Apr 30, 2012 · Ballistol should never be used on Nickel-plated guns, because there is a film of copper under the nickel. Ballistol is corrosive to copper and will cause the nickel to flake-off of your gun over time! Ballistol also should never be used as a long-term storage solution, either.

Feb 15, 2013 · Cleaning after a frog lube treatment is just a wipe. no solvents necc. Ballistol's process takes longer. I currently use BOTH ballistol and FL on different firearms. The Frog lube firearms are easier to clean IMHO. I do like them both, so no complaints here. D

Oct 11, 2016 · I use both. Ballistol has been used for my blackpowder guns and I always used CLP for my non blackpowder. I've since been using both CLP and ballistol for both and so far no complaints. There're both good. But unlike others I'm not enamored by the smell of ballistol, though my wife likes it.

BALLISTOL AND FIREARMS Ballistol was invented in 1904 in response to a German Army requirement. it was engineered to be usable on all metals, leather and wood and as a wound disinfectant for the treatment of minor cuts and infections.

Mar 16, 2015 · Ballistol does NOT mix well with certain other gun cleaners. None of this is meant to be a condemnation of Ballistol; it is a good gun cleaner; and I use it all the time. The caveat is that, like most things in life, you have to know HOW to use it properly.
