I am a survivor of discovery academy (and Redcliff) and I’ve been to the ranch a few times. Honestly the ranch seemed worse than the academy. One of our girls who truly did have severe mental health issues got sent to the ranch for being too difficult at the academy, so I assumed it’s pretty bad there.
