If you have air sealed and are at the max insulation level then benefit of a barrier is not worth $1.50 SF. The farther north you go the value is even less.

This house doesn't have any insulation (I'm renting so I'm not doing insulation), and while it has end gables for ventilation, I think that it vented better when it used a huge electric fan to vent the house in the days before AC.
