Rick Steves tours vs. Road Scholars tours - Rick Steves ...

    https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/tours/rick-steves-tours-vs-road-scholars-tours
I was actually more interested in how the two programs differ in terms of travel arrangements, content, etc. I understand that there would be more focus on one place (Venice/Rome/Florence) in the Road Scholars, while the Rick Steves would have more variety in terms of the geographical range, being able to see Siena, Verona, the Dolomites, Cinqueterre, etc.

Road Scholar Tours Reviews and Comments - Best Reviews Guru

Road Scholar used to go by the name “ElderHostel”. You have to be over 55 to sign up. I surmise they changed the name to get away from the general feeling that it was tours for old folks, though they say it was to convey the idea of learning through travel. I went on a tour to China, and I believe I was the youngest person on the tour, at 55.

On October 1st, Elderhostel International changes its name to Exploritas and lowers the minimum age to 21-years-old!! The organization was concerned that its loyal 70-year-old members were becoming too frail to continue on with the more rugged international trips, and they want to appeal to the baby-boomers turning 60, and the 40-year-olds, who were turned off by the name "elder"!!
