Jul 12, 2006 · As it is pre 1988 it is not covered by the current FSA legislation, but as far as I am concerned it was due to pay out in the region of £30,000, but it will be £11,000 if I am lucky. Also the maturity date is when I am 64 which is after my retirement date.

This provided more stringent rules for how a product should be sold. The FSA's position on complaints against policies sold pre-1988 is that firms should look at all complaints and handle them fairly.

Insurers treated all endowment complaints the same but if you use a middleman they will charge you anything from 15% to 40% of any payout - potentially thousands of pounds.
