Actually the worst testing year was 2015. That was a very difficult testing year and one I use as a bench mark. The testing Etsy and all ecommerce businesses do is necessary to remain current. Without it, sites die. Scads of sites have not prevailed. Etsy has and one reason is the strides it takes to remain current.

Each time Etsy makes a major change I ask myself if I still would have opened my shop here and the answer has been yes, although it was not easy with the FSG and Etsy Ads as it was more a question of whether my shop would survive despite it.

Most of the sellers on amazon and etsy are former Ebay sellers, meaning that Ebay's policies and fees (we all know its nickname - FEE-BAY) have driven people away and have built the seller base for their competitiors. I think Ebay is a sinking ship and management knows it.
