Jan 30, 2013 · The CPNE, as you mentioned, is a very stressful exam. It, however, is not deserving of a ripoff report. Not sure what it took to fail three times, but most fail due to stress affecting their performance or due to being ill-prepared.

I attempted the CPNE in Dec 2011, and failed due "incorrect injection placement and failure to write the careplan correctly". I passed all the classes basically on my own, practiced relentlessly from my home to prepare for "the big weekend" and obtained everything I needed to pass, only to be slapped in the face with a failure.

" Warning Do not Go to Excelsior college for nursing!!! After taking about a .year and a 1/2 to complete the course work you have to complete a weekend clinical. It takes another year to be scheduled. Had to travel to utica ny from Fl at a cost of 1000 hotel airfare car rental. The clinical piece sets you up for failure from the beginning.

My advice if you still insist on signing up with Excelsior College then ask to get contacts of former students who have passed the CPNE and have a conversation with them. Also the exam is pass or fail unlike conventional exams where they are graded then if you go below a certain metric you fail.

Excelsior College is capable of graduating top notch nurses IF you can pass the CPNE. It's very hard not to think that the pass/fail criteria is not a "set up" to make money off of people.
