If we sold our windows through franchises and distributors like other brands, then they would be so expensive, only the highest income households could afford them. Franchises and distributors tack on an additional 20%-40% mark-up on top of the windows.

I have gilkey's. We've been upgrading 4-5 a year for the past 3 years or so. I would say they are very good quality windows. Our first year we compared them to a few other brands (champion, pella etc) and we decided that the Gilkeys were the best design, and the price was about the same as champion (pella was ridiculous for nothing special).
