Feb 22, 2011 · Hi Everyone, I signed up for the Heritage Education Fund in Nov, 2005. I have two plans and I contribute $75/month for each kid. Total $150/month. Fees for both plans are $1500 each. In the Prospectus it states that if you terminate the plans all these fees are not returned to you. There is little flexibility for payments if for example you loose your job and can not pay.

In The RESP Book (review here), Mike Holman points out the reasons why parents should avoid Scholarship / Pooled / Group RESP plans:. Very, Very expensive. There are large upfront sales fees paid to the salesperson, which are paid from your contributions, and very high ongoing fees.

Advice to Management. You should revamp the Portfolio and hire educated professionals as sales person, instead of cab drivers or house wives. You should give a choice to client to have NO sales charges and now please do not tell me that you have Impression plan , which is not even 1 percent of sales and mostly agent sells group resp by not explaining upfront fees.3/5
