My 82 year old mother purchased John Hancock long term care insurance through her employer over 20 years ago. She went into an assisted living facility a little over a year ago in Dec 2014. "John Hancock long term care insurance is NOT long term insurance. The company is constantly seeking permission for unreasonable premium hikes on well established policies and eventually state regulators give in. Basically the company limits its liability by pricing its policy holders out of their coverage before a claim is filed.
