By Randy Wakeman. Powerbelt bullets, manufactured by Big Bore Express, have been around for a long time now. They were known as "Black Belt Bullets," available in plain lead versions as well as with a thin copper-wash, as thin a copper plating as you may have seen on some .22 rimfire bullets.

Dec 27, 2011 · I have been using the 295 grain powerbelt bullets with great success. I haven't lost a deer that I shot with them. I get great mushrooms but the bullet often hangs up on the off side hide. The deer don't go far so I have had no problems finding them. Last week I got some 300 grain Aerotip/Aerolite bullet and went to the bench rest.Author: Lamont Cyrus

Mar 06, 2012 · I would try 100-120gr of triple7 and powerbelt platinum 338gr. My girlfriend and I took 2 nice bulls last year with that combo, one at 8 yards, chest shot, and one at 147 yards, behind the shoulder shot. The bullet preformed perfect on both, and put them down fast with a lot of blood. Oh and both with CVA rifles.

Dec 07, 2006 · From other things I have read and my limited experience it seems this is an issue with muzzleloader loads like you stated. I shot a doe at 25 feet away this season and the Shock Wave 250 grain bullet with 100 grain Pyrodex powder did not exit the …

Nov 27, 2017 · After switching to shockwaves then Hornady bullet's, I have seen good accuracy with good performance. This is actually the same results from another guy I hunt with. This is my only real world experience and first had knowledge of powerbelt bullet's. Only my results. Reading is fine but real world results for me is what I trust.

Dec 24, 2010 · They recommend to only use 80 - 90 grains of powder to avoid 245 grain Powerbelt bullet failure. The heavier Powerbelt Platinum bullets are said to be able to withstand higher velocity and provide better all round performance. Your report of good terminal performance at close range with the same 245 grain Powerbelt high velocity loads could be ...

I've got a CVA Wolf, 24" barrel 1:28" twist (I believe) and it can handle 150gr of BP or equivalent. I was not really happy with the performance of 295gr Powerbelts that came with the starter kit. Some had casting flaws visible under the plating too:pityfool: so I assume they will never be that accurate. I also think the price of bullets for muzzle loaders is insane.

Apr 02, 2017 · If I were you, I'd stay completely away from Powerbelt bullets. There are just way to many other higher quality and cheaper bullets to shoot, with far fewer complaints. Without question, and you can Google it, no other bullet has received such a bad reputation as those.

Blackhorn 209 vs 777 vs Goex Black Powder: Comparison. Since Hodgon’s 777 and Blackhorn 209 are two of the most popular black powder substitutes hunters use these days (check out this article for a more detailed discussion of popular black powder substitutes), I decided to do a comparison to see how they stack up next to each other. Aug 02, 2018 · DO NOT shoot 150gr behind a powerbelt. He is the only guy who has had trouble with terminal performance and wounding animals, which I suspect is due to bullet deformation coming out of the barrel with such a hot load and soft bullet. Powerbelts relatively soft when compared to most bullets, but they have been beyond deadly in my experience.

If the Powerbelt company only offered the Platinums and the copper HPs over 300 grains, there would be little-to-no complaints about them.
