It seems, again, that RCI is giving preferential treatment to non-members willing to pay top dollar for gold crown resorts and suites. Personally, my major complaint with RCI is the way that they conduct business using their deceitfully underhanded, high-pressure sales tactics.

The RCI Weeks program is the more traditional arrangement you describe above -- you use your own week at your home resort, or deposit it with RCI for an exchange at another Weeks resort (assuming availability during the time(s) you want to go, etc....

Wyndham Worldwide consists of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Vacation Ownership (old Fairfield), and Group RCI. Wyndham Worldwide's and RCI's homebase is in Parsipanny, NJ while Wyndham Vacation Resorts is headquartered in Orlando, Florida.

OMG- I love Wyndham and the sale staff at Grand Dessert is the MOST aggressive rude and horrid I have ever encountered - sorry- the hard part is that the rest of the staff is delightful so you are somewhat lulled and then they come on to you like gang busters with threats and everything else.

Not sure if this is one of the public facing subsidiaries that offers last minute deals via things like groupon etc. RCI used to stand alone, then was bought my cendant who also owned Avis car rental, now RCI is part of Wyndham.
