Aug 11, 2017 · Rega RP1 replaces the P1 model with upgrades that we could not just call cosmetics. Namely, RP1 has a brand new, lighter tonearm RB101, it looks like it is borrowed from the P2 model, and it’s a new platter made of highly durable and persistent phenolic resin, popularly referred to as bakelite .4/5(9)

The platter is sprayed black and topped with a somewhat coarser version of the standard Rega felt mat. Setup In an effort to make the P1 record player even more attractive to the first-time buyer, Rega bundles it with an Ortofon OMB 5E, a moving-magnet phono cartridge of presumably humble cost.

I am quite frankly shocked by the inability of the P1 to properly track a record and equally shocked at the unbelievably transparent quality of the Dual 1229. It's very hard to tell the difference between the inner and outer grooves for god sake, where the Rega balked like crazy as it …2/5(2)

by TENRAGS. This review is for the latest P1 (2016) released in July, not the one pictured. The turntable I received had minor quality control faults upon delivery; having had over 50 years experience with all aspects of hi-fi turntables, from Dansette through to Oracle, I decided to correct the faults myself rather than risk time and effort sending the deck back for replacement.

Dec 08, 2019 · Hello Guys, I am quite new to the turntable scene. Based on my budget and most reviews, I am narrowing it down to 2 options: 1. Rega Planar 1 2. Audio Technica AT-LP3 I am not after a state-of-the-art audiophile setup. Just easy, weekend listening …

The Planar 1 Plus is a combination of the Rega P1 with the company’s Fono Mini A2D phono stage albeit without the analogue to digital converter and USB output of the latter, which makes it slightly more affordable package than the two units combined (£329 rather than £339).

The Rega Planar 1 has been out and about for a little while and so Paul Rigby has been able to have a good long look at the thing before giving it a thorough review. He does more than that, though. He asks if potential buyers should bother buying one at all or hunt around for a second hand P1? One of the legends of the budget turntable genre, Rega’s introductory turntable design, the P1, was ...

Many P1 owners spent an additional $65 and quickly upgraded to the glass platter that used to come on the older versions of the P2, with a definite improvement. Rega founder Roy Gandy is a mechanical engineer to the core and is always looking for a way to improve his products.

Dec 13, 2017 · I was considering the Pro-Ject, but after hearing many complaints about hum, I'm put off by it (especially after rejecting a U-Turn Orbit because it hummed and buzzed with my Schiit Mani). I've never tried a Rega, but I am considering either the RP1 or …

The Rega P1 uses the new RB110 tonearm. It’s specifically designed to work with the Rega Carbon moving magnet phono cartridge, which comes pre-mounted on the P1. It doesn’t offer as many adjustments as some of Rega’s other arms do, but for the money, it’s a great tonearm.

Planar 1. The new Planar 1 is the most user friendly Rega turntable to date. Now with preset bias force on the brand new RB110 tonearm, the Planar 1 is set up in seconds after unpacking. Simply slide the balance weight onto the rear of the tonearm as far as it will go, remove the stylus guard and start spinning your favourite vinyl.

Feb 11, 2020 · The Rega Planar 1 Plus is a belt driven unsuspended turntable. Given this is what Rega is known for, this should not be terribly surprising. The design itself - as the name suggests - is also closely related to the Planar 1 which has been on the market for a little while and represents the entry point to Rega turntable ownership.9/10

Oct 02, 2014 · I'm in a similar position at the minute (with a slightly smaller budget than you) and I'm leaning towards the Rega RP1. I've done a lot of reading (mainly on r/vinyl) and it seems to be a well respected turntable for beginners. The RP1 and pro-ject debut Carbon get compared often with a lot of people preferring the Carbon because it comes with a better cartridge but it costs £100 more.

While the RP1 came to market as a replacement for the relatively recent P1, the P3 model that the RP3 replaces has been evolving for more than 30 years. Beginning its product life as the Planar 3 back in 1978, the P3 is not only the ‘table that put Rega on the map in the US but the one that gave the company the widest brand identity.
