Aug 21, 2018 · Safeway makes up some of this loss but not all of it. The reason being that Safeway is incentivizing the customer to choose Chevron over a competitor so that increases volume for Chevron. So for example, if the discount is $0.20/gallon, Safeway pays Chevron $0.18.

Aug 22, 2012 · A friend who works for Safeway said that this is a common problem and might be linked to employees using customer information to use customer rewards. I will just avoid shopping at Safeway in the future!! What a waste of time! You have to purchase $100 of groceries to get this gas reward worth just 10 cents a gallon!

We are loyal cusomers to Safeway, but they have now changed how you can redeem your gas rewards. It used to be that you could store up your 10 cent discount and now you can't, you can only have 10 cents off per fill up, this makes it impossible for me to fully redeem my rewards because I don't drive enough to use what I have saved up.Author: Dlete

I have also had my gas rewards disappear for no reason. As I use my phone number to access the account, I changed it from my home number to my cell number. The problem still persists. I assume someone else is entering the number or as mentioned in a previous post, a Safeway employee has comprised the system for their own benefit.
