If it is discontinued, what is the best lens in the 50-150 (or 200) range now? I don't necessarily *need* the 2.8 although it would be nice. But I would take f4 as the minimum for the entire range.

Do your research on the online guys. Most of them are scammers. Check the reviews on resellerratings.com and then stick with the reputable guys (B&H, Adorama, Samys, Calumet, Sigma4less, Beach Camera, etc). No P&S is going to do very well in low light, that's why you step up to the DSLRs and their lightbucket lenses.

A method Ive read about with no complaints so far is the use of the LensPen system. In few words, its a brush that you gently move around your lens and will clean your fingerprints and other contamination without leaving trace. They have also a brush called SensorKlear thats design to clear sensors as well (CCD and CMOS) in the same fashion.
