Oct 17, 2008 · The Tamron 11-18 arrived 2 weeks ago. My own tests are that the center sharpness is better than on my Tokina. Corner sharpness is not as good, and there is more CA on one side than the other, but I suspect mine is suffering from a decentering defect so I'm mailing it to Tamron today to request adjustment.

Nov 01, 2005 · Over the years I have found Tamron to be great glass and I really love my 90mm macro. But the 11-18mm was slow to focus and made a loud ZIP when auto focusing. The lens felt light and plastic. I just did not like the lens. The Sigma 12-24mm was a real nice lens. Large and will built. The lens was fast and bright. I lot nicer than the Tamron.

May 13, 2009 · Worst of the lot was Tamron 11-18mm, ugly distortion, bad build quality, slow focus, lacking contrast and muted colours, just what you don't want for a mainly landscape lens. The Sigma 12-24mm is a HUGE lens, it lacks filter support and it's heavy. It's not particularly sharp but distortion is extremely well controlled.
