Partially Obstructed View: Theatre review: The Complaint

    https://partially-obstructed-view.blogspot.com/2012/05/theatre-review-complaint.html
Theatre review: The Complaint. It's all a bit bombastic upstairs at Hampstead at the moment, but downstairs things are a whole lot quieter, and a great deal odder. Nick Whitby's The Complaint is set in an unspecified country - there's mostly a Middle-Eastern feel, but each character has a different international accent, sometimes even changing ...

Partially Obstructed View: Theatre review: The Mystae

    https://partially-obstructed-view.blogspot.com/2014/02/theatre-review-mystae.html
Theatre review: The Mystae. Author of the gently Kafkaesque The Complaint, Nick Whitby returns to Hampstead Downstairs with something pretty different in The Mystae. An August night in a Cornish cave near the sea, just after the A'Level results have come out, and Ina (Beatrice Scirocchi) has told her boyfriend Holman (Adam Buchanan) about an ...

Such a simple setup could lead to the possibility of a rather slight play, one where the characters become obvious caricatures.

REVIEW: Matchbox Theatre, Hamsptead Theatre

    https://britishtheatre.com/review-matchbox-theatre-hamsptead-theatre-%e2%9c%ad%e2%9c%ad/
This quote is attributed to Michael Frayn in the programme for the Hampstead Theatre's production of Matchbox Theatre, directed by Hamish McColl, which has just begun its premiere season. Assuming it's true, it seems the last person one can blame for theatrical version of Matchbox Theatre is Frayn himself.

Apr 19, 2015 · “The world's gone all strange' For better or for worse, the aspect of Fiona Doyle’s new play Deluge that lingers most in the mind is Moi Tran’s design. Continuing a trend of adventurous transformations of the downstairs space at the Hampstead, she has flooded the stage calf-deep – appropriately so for a drama so preoccupied with adverse weather conditions – with platforms at either ...
