Travel Republic would be passing onmthe information their supplier gave them, and they were passing on the information the hotel gave them. The hotel telling you that they knew nothing about it and rebooking you is just typical of a hotel trying to make themselves look blameless, and blaming an agent.

They have registered the complaint but so far failed to respond. As you state Travel Republic's handling is poor and their customer service non existent. They accepted that a mistake has occurred when they contacted me a the hotel. If Travel Republic had any intelligence they would put their hands up, accept there was a mistake and pay up.

The number would have been on the paperwork you were sent. If they couldn't rectify your problem did you contact Travel Republic? If not you haven't adhered to the complaints procedure you agreed to, and you may well have jeopardised your chances of compensation (if you were due any).
