Waterguard is a drain tile, using a proprietary pipe. It's supposed to be cheaper to install because it involves less excavation. Less excavation means less gravel which is what does the drainage in poor drainage soil -- the gravel directs it to the pipe and the pipe carries it away, but all gravel installations work pretty well until the silt up.
