I received a response from Whitmore this afternoon. Here's the opening paragraph: "Thank you for submitting to Whitmore Publishing. We have completed our review of your submission. Unfortunately, the content of your work is not compatible with our current needs. We regret that we will not be able to publish it at this time."

Requires you to Contact Whitmore for more information. You can go to Whitmore Publishing Home page here. It is obvious Whitmore is a Vanity press. They are also affiliated with Dorrance which has thrown up quite a few red flags. Apparently they provide leads to Dorrance.

If you believe in yourself and in your book you owe it to yourself to spend at least twice as long trying to publish traditionally as you did writing the book. Unfortunately Whitmore Press is unable to accept unsolicited manuscripts or publishing proposals. We do, however, conduct an annual manuscript prize, with the winner's work published in a limited edition chapbook the following year. Submissions for the prize from both new and established poets are encouraged. Check the Whitmore Press website for updates.

Page publishing is not a good option because of the cost and mediocre books. Even their book covers look amateurish and generic. Find a publisher, and if there's a fee, just make sure they're not charging thousands up front then double-dipping by taking royalties too.1.5/5(14)
