Apr 30, 2014 · I found Abe's of Maine via a web search when shopping for a Canon T3i camera. I'd never heard of them before, but the website looked legit and they had the best prices. I placed the order right away using my PayPal account. I should have researched the company before ordering but I didn't, which was a big mistake.

I'd guess that since the order was for a non grey market lens and hadn't been shipped, since Abes was pulling the bait-n-switch, there was no legal merit to them charging 10% restocking/cancellation fee. He also had the credit card company on his side as the purchaser.

Abes of Maine aren't authorized Sony dealers, that should be your first red flag. There are plenty of stories like this online regarding Abes of Maine, that should be your second red flag. Sony even has a page calling them out. Is there anything on he invoice that it is a US model? If there's no statement that it is, it's not counterfeit.
