Arrived to Barcelona to pick up the car from Europcar and per argus car hire instructions I told them I need to drive the car to these countries. As soon as they heard "Italy" the lady I was talking to said "well, there is a problem, you cannot drive the car in Italy because it is not insured".

Despite them promising that they 'search the net for the cheapest prices so you don't have to' we had an appaling experience with them and National Car Hire at Carcassonne Airport at Christmas and they are not recommended!

Effectively Argus will NOT take any responsibility for the actions of their car hire partners. (such as Goldcar) If everything runs smoothly then they are value for money but dont expect any refunds/help if one of their car hire partners fails to meet their obligations.

This review is solely about Argus Car Hire customer services. They are impossible to contact during a hire period. They have no email service and their chatbot only deals with after hire complaints. Why should you have to make international phone calls to get basic information?

Yes, I am having a problem with Argus Car Hire at the moment. I went to New Zealand recently and agreed a price in advance with Argus Car Hire. They were using Interrent over in NZ ( who are owned apparently by Europcar).. I paid some money in advance for excess insurance and a deposit, and had something like £450 to pay at Auckland Airport.
