May 09, 2011 · Most likely, the failure occurred due to one of two causes: 1) the bent derailleur hanger or 2) component failure. My issue is that the blame for either case lies with bikesdirect.com. Either they sent me a bike that was so out of whack it broke before ten miles ridden, OR they sent me a bike with crappy (counterfeit?) components that blew up before ten miles ridden.

Mar 20, 2014 · I don't have that bicycle but I do own a Motobecane Immortal that I bought in 2010 that has served me well. I have done a number of century rides with my Immortal, around 8,000 training miles, changed the saddle a few times, replaced the FSA crank with a Shimano 105, and replaced the original stem with a shorter, better stem.

Bikesdirect has been around a long time, with the same crappy website design that they started with. Most complaints you'll hear about them are poor customer service for bikes that get damaged in shipping, and for their MTBs not being the cutting edge of frame design. Anything that's a basic diamond frame and road oriented is okay.
