Cross Cultural Solutions staff who purchased drinks for a 19 year old. The next morning we all received termination letters. After all this, the other volunteer and I took responsibility for a 19 year old with no experience travelling alone in a foreign country. Anyone can go to a country that is struggling with poverty and volunteer, but without context the experience can be shallow. We had a number of people who provided history and context to what the citizens of Lima have struggled with, where the successes have been and what is needed for the future.
