Looking for a few opinions on a complaint I've made to Halifax that is getting me nowhere. I'll start off by saying my finances with Halifax haven't been handled great by myself for the best part of 2015-2016. I would pass my overdraft, Halifax would notify me of charges for doing so and apply them a month later.

Lloyds and Bank of Scotland customers will no longer pay £6/mth overdraft usage fees. Halifax customers will no longer pay the £1, £2 or £3 per day fees that were on many old accounts. There are no longer any unarranged overdraft fees and charges. There are now no fees for missed payments.

Do not trust a word Halifax say anymore especially when it comes to PPI. We had a complaint in before the deadline for PPI on a mortgage taken out in the 80's. They apparently sent a rejected letter in October which was never received.

I used the Halifax app to apply for the credit card and they pre screen you first before full credit check. I use the Halifax Credit Card each month with a small amount so it shows on my credit report that I am a responsible consumer for credit. I have a £50.00 arranged overdraft with each current account but I have thankfully never had to use it.

Online banking is a nightmare. Do not do online banking with Halifax if you tend to transfer large sums as it will not go through and they will block your account and ask you to call customer services to verify your identity which basically is a waste of time as in the end they will ask you to pop in to your local Halifax branch to verify your ID.

You are not alone - my daughter, who is a hairdresser and therefore doesn't earn much money - incurred £273 in bank charges last month!! She has an authorised overdraft of £500 and went over this by no more than £100 a few times in the month - like you she wouldn't have gone over her limit if the bank hadn't been taking £35 from her account at regular intervals.
