Mar 17, 2010 · We went to Turkey. The holiday was fine and we enjoyed it. Sadly Holiday Gems are the worst travel company I have every had the misfortune to use. Completely disorganised and inept. If you phone Holiday Gems are in a queue for ages - the shortest time my call was answered in was 35 minutes when we called their customer services line.

Holidays Gems are just another shonky OTA. They aren't Atol holders. It's the Global Travel Group that is the Atol holder. It doesn't mean anything though because UK agents or tour operators cannot sell either packages or flight plus holidays without one. They don't sell package holidays online, only flight plus so you have separate contracts for each element booked.

At first I was very sceptical about this travel agent due to all the negative reviews. However, I got an amazingly cheap deal to Corfu, 1 adult and 2 children for £509 including transfers! Absolutely fraudulent way of doing things. If the holiday prices change after a booking is made, HOLIDAYS GEMS SHOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY. AND REFUNDS SHOULD BE DONE ON THE DAY, not take 3 to 5 days to process. The only plus side was the holiday was lovely - wont be booking with holiday gems again.

This included paying almost double for the baggage allowance. All the components of the holiday could easily be booked directly with suppliers at a reduced cost.

May 22, 2011 · If the company is registered with ATOL (Air Travel Organisers' Licence) then they may be able to help you, although I've just had a quick squint at their website and couldn't find Holidaygems (or Holiday Gems) listed. I would advise making a complaint, in writing, with copies (not originals) of your evidence and also copy-in the travel firm.
