Fortunately, I come to Mr. Rankin's work with fresh eyes. "The Complaints" is the first novel I've read by the Scottish author, but it certainly won't be the last. This is great stuff. The main protagonist, Malcolm Fox, as well as the other characters who inhabit "The Complaints" feel extremely real.

Jul 13, 2012 · Amidst the contradictions of what it means to be a part of the Complaints unit (cops detecting other cops), the banter and the blunt dismissive behavior of those above, below, and in between the ranks of Malcolm, there are a few great mysteries solved. Ian Rankin did it again. A worthy successor to Rebus.4.1/5(173)

Westwind by Ian Rankin - Goodreads

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1266037.Westwind
Ian Rankin wrote this in the early part of his writing career, at the beginning of the 1990s, a what would then have been a futuristic thriller. It never made much of a splash at the time, Rankin has lightly rewritten aspects of it for Orion to republish it now.3.4/5

Knots and Crosses is the first of Ian Rankin’s Inspector Rebus novels, although in this one he’s still Detective-Sergeant Rebus. It’s almost impossible because of the way the plot is structured to say anything meaningful about the story without the rusk of giving away any spoilers.3.8/5(1.9K)

This was a well crafted police story as expected from Ian Rankin. It had a good general theme with several twists and turns on the way to the resolution of the mystery. The characters were the same as in the other story about the Complaints section of Edinburgh's police, with an Inspector and his loyal sergeant and young novice.4.4/5(345)

The Complaints by Ian Rankin Audiobook UrbanAudioBooks.com

    https://www.urbanaudiobooks.com/the-complaints
Nobody likes The Complaints--they're the cops who investigate other cops. It's a department known within the force as "The Dark Side," and it's where Malcolm Fox works. He's a serious man with a father in a nursing home and a sister who persists in an abusive relationship, frustrating problems about which he cannot seem to do anything.
