If I won a contest with my choice of two grand prizes -- a 1,200 square-foot house with R-40 double stud walls, or a 1,200 square-foot house with R-40 ICF walls -- I might choose the ICF house. But be careful: very few (if any) ICF homes actually have R-40 walls.

I liked the ICF builder because he never once used the terms "Curb Appeal" or "Resale Value". I am building my dream house and I plan on living there for the rest of my life. I am building a 1650sqft 1 bedroom home on the first level. Then there will be two bedrooms with a total of 1000sqft of finished space in the basement.

Feb 16, 2009 · NUDURA is a great ICF we have used tens of thousand sf, but only one house in the past year. It was the best value for me in 2005 and 2006. Flippable is a plus, the folding is a plus but I think I get a straight wall easier with a rigid block. The only bad experience I had was with their 8" T.
