Jul 20, 2014 · To be fair to miratec, I have it as the skirts around my porch as well, which sees plenty of weather. I think the real key is that it is blocked off the framing so air gets all around it. With the windows, the trim is sitting on top of vycor, once the water got it, it had nowhere to go I guess.

Nov 20, 2012 · Re: Trim moisture problem We mostly use 5/4 cedar here b/c we can get it. I have used LP's Smart trim in the past. Miratec by special order. All flat stock - we have none of the brands you mentioned above available here - aside from Azek; but the cost is usually very prohibitive.

Feb 06, 2008 · Miratec weighs about the same and works very much the same as real wood. Don't paint anything. Buy pre-stained. Both are available with the same pre-stain warranties. Also I don't even think you are supposed to be using "paint" on these products. Use solid stain instead. It will soak into the substrate much much better, thus lasting longer.
