This has nothing to do with the "new" oxyContin formulation but it reminded me of something I encountered. I take Oxycodone for Restless Legs (20 mg). For years my pharmacy provided the medication in 5 mg doses. But a new pharmacist came in, and began stocking Oxycodone in 10 mg tablets and that is how they filled my RX.

So they changed it to an uncrushqble formulation, which seems to not work as well and we have had literally hundreds, if not thousands of complaints about the new OP formula.

At least one that I am aware of was available prior to Oxycontin ever being made. I cynically suspect that the makers of Oxycontin waited carefully until their patents on Oxycontin were just about up or just elapsed and then offered this new formulation so they could apply for a new patent and get many more years of exclusive rights.

Mar 17, 2011 · Digestive problems are inherent in opioid treatment, and yes, the complaints about the new OxyContin seem to be universal here. I've yet to see a pt. doing well on the new "OP" formula. The clinical doc here has switched every patient he has that was on it to other meds.
