My car is rarely driven and I used two Optima RedTop batteries for the last few years, both of them chocked up and my conclusion was that the Optima batteries are of low quality. You can use the same amount of money to buy Odyssey battery that is more reliable and has warranty. It is so sad that when the battery is dead that is the end.

Mar 02, 2011 · Before anyone buys an optima, please look at this battery. The higher price seems to be related to the use of 99.9% pure virgin lead plated, all quality. From the search I did on optima batteries, it seems the complaints of bad optima batteries has increased exponentially in past 3 years after moving production to Mexico.
