An extremely serious scam is going on in California with Thrifty, using toll charges and PlatePass.. When collecting our car from Los Angeles LAX airport, we were informed about PlatePass at the desk. Paying $11.99 per day (for a total of $131.97) would've cover us for any toll road, and avoid any fee, or at least that's what we've been told.

I recently got caught by Plate Pass in a Hertz rental vehicle in New England.I had seen the signs in the Hertz office at Logan Airport, Boston but declinned the offer to subscribe to Plate Pass (EzPass). Didn't really think a lot more of it until we were heading towards a toll booth and my son pulled out the slide on the unit fixed to the windscreen and directed me through the Ezpass channel.
