I own a Montage, but I have no problem admitting there is a much better choice available now, and I 100% will be owning it. Fantom is the new KING- you have no choice but to bend the knee.

My Roland fantom g8 keys have developed a ruff playing surface. I'm not sure if it is wear and tear or residue from my fingers. I'm the only one who plays it in a non smoking home, and I have few playing hours on it. The surface of the keys are feeling ruff instead of smooth and takes away from the experience. They are not discolored.

The product seems great, but it does not work with all keyboards. I struggled with my Roland Fantom G8. David Sides spent good time with me trying to find ways for it to work, but it didnt work. Aug 26, 2011 · Prices vary in Europe but I have looked at a price comparing site and there I see that the Fantom G8 costs between 3399 and 3477 Euros, while the Kronos 88 goes for 3699 Euros! So, with your words, if Roland thinks that they can charge for one plug in 3477 Euros, then I think that Korg certainly can charge 200 Euros more for nine plugins.

Mar 08, 2011 · You might want to consider buying a used Fantom X7 (or X8). That way, you can retain your investment in cards, since the Fantom X is compatible with them. It will accept up to 4 SRX cards. A brand new 88-key Fantom G8 costs $3500. I bought a used Fantom X7, online, in like-new condition for $1300 and I love it.

I tried a fantom G8 out a few weeks ago when I was visiting my folks in Newcastle and like you I wasnt impressed, i couldnt believe how awful and cheap the samples were, the pianos and samples sounded worse than my old Korg Trinity. If you have the money, and you want a Roland, buy the Motif XS and a fantom X. Youve got the best of both worlds.
