I just got off the phone with SanDisk whom I called to register my 4GB Extreme III memory card and after being on the phone with them for 40 minutes, they tell me the card I bought is not a legitimate card from SanDisk. That there are people who are selling conterfeit cards .

And memory cards aren’t the only fake photographic products out there, either, as BlackRapid recently pointed out. So be careful from where you buy.

Dec 28, 2010 · Another reason not to buy any memory card sold in "bulk" (not retail) packaging is that SanDisk does not warranty these cards. So while you may get a genuine card for what seems to be a good price, if that card fails you have no recourse against anyone or avenue to get it replaced. You'll just have to buy another card.
