On May 5, 2008, I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS from a company by the name of techondigital.com. The next day, May 6, 2008, I received an email from techondigital.com confirming my order. I was assigned order ID 1060479. The item was listed for $239.00 and a cost of $14.90 for shipping. Thus the entire cost was to have been $253.90.

I've read consumer complaints that techondigital and 86photovideo call you after placing an order and try to sell you more very high prices accessories and when you refuse they send you an email saying they no longer have the product you ordered in stock. complaints posted on-line. If the price is significantly lower than at good stores, it’s either a rebuilt used camera, a foreign “grey market” camera with no US warranty, or a scam. Two scam stores are techondigital.com and fotoconnection.com. The first sells cameras very cheaply but only if you buy accessories at wildly inflated prices.

Don't just look at the scores, read the user reviews. Remember that it's possible for stores to post their own positive reviews.

In the meantime I did some checking on this company and found numerous complaints filed by customers. One customer actually got what he ordered after he contacted the DOJ-Attorney Generals office. Aside from 86Streetphoto I believe they also run the following sites, Broadwayphoto, Techondigital, Prestigecamera and Cameraaddict. There may be others.
