Poor customer service. I booked a flight from google search. When directed to airline website the date changed and I purchased it without noticing the change. I contacted westjet and they were not able to change the date without forfeiting my first flight because I purchased a basic fare. westjet obviously doesn't care about customer service -they are only looking at their bottom line. Their business model may be successful if enough people only consider the cheapest flight. God help you if a flight is cancelled or you have to change something because then you are at their mercy which judging by all the complaints - isn't much.

Back then Westjet was a small airline competing against Air Canada and Canadian Airlines who were both inflexible and expensive to use. Westjet was the little company with a heart and they went our of their way to accommodate customer needs. I recall telling relatives in the USA to fly to Canada on Westjet because they will be well looked after.

In the past I have had great service from Westjet, but in the past few years it has been going downhill, and worse in the last 5 months. Everytime I flew for business or flew with my family, we always tried to book Westjet as it was when Air Canada was going through their financial and union issues and the Westjet employees just seemed to care more.
