Visual Studio is by far one of the best IDEs there is. While you might get a pretty basic site up and running on Linux using other IDEs, if you want to get a big team going behind a big project, you want VS. And VS means you're on Windows. That's two huge licenses to develop a site, even if you run the site itself on another platform.

SVN – Great open source source control. There is not a lot to complain about. There are a lot of great add-on’s available for visual studio as well. Granted, Xcode is a piece of crap too - it's so buggy and unstable a lot of the time. But I can at least read or figure out what's going on. VS, tiny fonts, things you can't read, tons of "what's this for?" configuration.
