I think this is because Windows 8 is a transitive operating system and Microsoft hasn't completed the modern interface experience in a way it could work 100%. What I've done, is ignore completely all modern apps and use Windows 8.1 as I would use Windows 7.

There's this windows 8 stigma going around because people don't know how to get to their desktop view. But when you do learn how to do it, its great.
