Now the first place is claiming that Bowtie Overdrives uses counterfeit parts - meaning they copied copyrighted parts and they use weak (red and brown) clutch packs that cause too much heat in their high performance trannys. The Raptor uses Raybestos blue plate specials clutches.

Apr 25, 2006 · This is just my opinion. My roommate got a 700r4 from Bowtie Overdrives about 10 months ago, and the install went very well. However the transmission never shifted right, it leaked like crazy, and eventually destroyed itself. A transmission mechanic friend of ours rebuilt it for him and was amazed at the "hack job" (his words) that they performed.

We consider our Level One Transmission to be a properly built transmission with "fix-it" upgrades only. These transmissions are upgraded in those areas that will cure the common problems that have plagued these units over the years.
