Earlier this year we lost all hot water though the heating was fine. They came out, fiddled with it ( no new parts) and recommended a power flush at £785. I decided against this and it was fine for a while. Then the hot water began to fluctuate and then stopped again.

a power flush should be around £300 - £400 and that is in London so should be cheaper elsewhere. a power flush can be done by anyone. it does not have to be with British Gas. it should not affect your contract with them.

The engineer said in less than 60 seconds that I needed a power flush. Asked BG for 2nd opinion. naother engineer said the same plus if I don't have it my system will rot from inside out.

Jan 30, 2006 · I have been paying 16pounds per month for a homecare insurance with British Gas. This policy is designed to cover your boiler and central heating system. I was visited by an engineer to assess if my system was "good enough" for them to cover me. He explained that I needed a complete flush out of the system which would cost 440pounds!!!
