Sep 04, 2008 · It is possible to spoof caller id, and a number of strange numbers show up, mainly with the shadiest companies, or out and out scammers. Sending the number being called as the supposed caller is a new one I haven't heard of. In large call centers, the outgoing caller id is generated by the on-site equipment, not telephone company equipment.
