Nov 10, 2015 · Looking at the Honda Pilot forum for the new DI earth dreams V6 I don't find much about VCM complaints for the current Pilot. To me, the biggest problem with the V6 is the throttle response and it's inconsistent. Some days the car feels like it can hold gears before downshifting better than others.

VCM is mostly availible on Hondas with the J35Z engine. The only 4 cylinder that has it is the one in the newer hybrid Civics. From what I’ve heard Honda’s VCM doesn’t have any long standing problems, it’s just that it’s not really effective in saving a meaningful amount of fuel.

Jun 20, 2015 · So I deactivated the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) on my 2006 Honda Odyssey. Wow, what a difference...no more vibration, no more cutting in/out of 3 cylinder mode. The engine is so smooth and responsive, the way it should be. And, saves the engine mounts. Device took about 1 min to install and can be removed if the van goes in for service.

Jul 30, 2010 · The 2G RL VCM is more refined with minimal problems so far then earlier years problem version (class action settlement). Its a matter of personal preference. Use VCM and let Honda's technology mask out the out of balance engine vibrations when engaged. Or disable VCM, enjoy smooth engine performance but loose about 1 mpg.
