My Optus cable phone became noisey and dropped out 4 times at 15min point while waiting for the service dept phone to answer. Not sure if it still works this way for Optus but you used to be able to pay an extra ~$20/month to get 100Mbps download speed. Cable internet is a shared connection though - it's one cable for you and everyone else in your street, so it suffers more from peak time congestion than ADSL.

Apr 03, 2014 · My Telstra cable is not rock solid and I am in a congested area - Alderley QLD doesn't even have a phone exchange so everyone would either be on Optus or Telstra cable, and my guess is nearly everybody chooses Telstra cable. Signal levels remain fine but it gets lossy and laggy in the afternoon, and the netgear modem is utter shit.
