Tri-Sprintec is also used to treat severe acne. Apr 28, 2009 · I am taking Tri-Sprintec the generic for orthotrycycline, I too switched about six months ago due to it being cheaper. As far as gaining weight, I haven't had that, still weigh the same as did prior. I haven't had any side effects from it, nor did I from orthotrycycline. The only real difference between generic/brand is the casing.
